About Cathy Carr

I am a Renaissance woman.

Having moved to several different markets in the United States, I  have been fortunate to find myself culturally immersed in many area of the country. Upon disengaging from the publishing industry, I was in a unique position of choosing my next location.

I decided to come home to my roots.

Born in the 20th century in Chapel Hill while my father attended UNC, I was a fortunate child. My parents took advantage of both the mountains and the coast of North Carolina, teaching me to ski on water and snow. I rode horses with the Sedgefield Hunt in Greensboro, NC; and later rode competitively in college. When I moved to Texas, I rode in Reining competitions. I understand the needs of those who manage horses with high value, as well as how to accommodate a barn for brood mares.

Business took my family to Cooperstown, New York, where I was a communications instructor at the State University of New York for ten years. Cooperstown has an interesting link to North Carolina in the historical fiction, "The Last of the Mohicans." The events took place in Cooperstown, while the movie was made in the mountains of North Carolina because the vistas are far more dramatic in the North Carolina Blue Ridge.

While living on my hobby farm in Upstate New York, I grew hundreds of flowers and an acre of vegetables. In addition, I raised several varieties of chickens. I also ran for a county seat, learning much about how local ordinances affect communities - including the 'six hens, no rooster' ordinance for those who dwell within the city limits.

Most of our moves were corporate moves. The stress of moving is traumatic, and there are many elements that must come together at the perfect time. Having been there and done that five times, I know what to expect and how to trouble shoot to prevent disruption.

I currently reside in Carrboro where my son is enrolled in Chapel Hill High School. Of my two older daughters - one lives in Manhattan, and the other in Jerusalem.

It is my honor to share my knowledge and help clients with a smooth transition in one of the most important decisions they will make.
