	Moving companies will provide estimates on packing and moving the contents of your home. Estimates are done using a checklist that evaluates the weight of your possessions. It is a good idea to get several estimates.

	Inventory, Clean and Repair Your Possessions:
	Now is a good time to make sure you account for all of your belongings. Cleaning out closets and getting rid of unneeded items will make moving easier and ensure a fresh start in your new home.
	Buy Boxes, Tape and Packing Material:
	It is always a good idea to get a few extras, just in case you run out.

	Contact Chamber of Commerce in Your New Hometown:
	Learn as much about your new hometown as possible, before you move. Getting your children involved in research will help them adjust to the move ahead of time.

	Cancel Utilities and Services:
	Gas, power, phone and other utilities will need to be transferred or cancelled before you move.
	Send Change of Address Forms:
	Friends, family, creditors and periodicals should be notified of your change of address.

	Transfer Bank Accounts to New Branch Locations:
	Be sure to cancel any automatic withdraws or payments you may have.
